When labor begins it’s all about you and your baby. You’ll have your own private birth suite throughout your entire stay allowing you to unpack and relax . After delivery your suite is transformed to include a queen sized bed so your support person can stay. You’ll enjoy all the comforts of home. You, your support person and your family are welcome to enjoy our nourishment center. Which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We take care of everything for you. Even setting up your baby’s first well check appointment. This one week check-up ensures your baby is growing and developing. And helps build a lasting relationship with your pediatric provider. St. Luke’s is the only hospital in Cedar Rapids offering maternal fetal medicine. Maternal fetal medicine is the specialty of high risk obstetrics or perinatology. Maternal fetal medicine specialists take care of two patients, the mother and the baby having complications such as heart disease, cancer, hypertension, diabetes. And the fetus who also may have complications. We also have pre-pregnancy consultations We see postpartum patients, we see critical care patients. Really anything on the spectrum which includes abnormal pregnancies. Our experienced team of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists technicians and other professionals care for over 200 babies per year for the last 30 years. Kids are incredible and that’s why I went into pediatrics. Kids are innocent, their energetic and the are very resilient. Even when they get sick, they get better quickly.
