CT Scan at Stanford: Part II (Getting the scan)


Being the patient and the writer of the story, I’m looking forward to being able to share with people the process. I’m hoping that I can help people have the bravery to ask their own questions of their own physicians and maybe just take that first step and say, “Okay, whatever the answers are, I’m going to find out.” I’m on my way to get my lungs scanned by a CT machine, which will show what’s been going on in there for the last, uh, several years. It will be important for the rest of my life to have a sense of, um, the state of health of my lungs. “Your head goes here; your feet go right down here.” “Lie down on your back.” “Oh, it’s firm.” “In order to get some good pictures, we always want to, to focus on the area, to keep the X-ray…”
