Postpartum depression is fairly common. I think after all the exuberance and happiness of delivering a child, it suddenly dawns upon the mother that hey, there’s going to be quite a bit of work to do now. But most times, if is fortunately, just what we call postnatal blues. It is a condition which can be easily overcome if one understands that you will always get some of that feeling of postnatal depression or bues
as we call it in the light sense. But there are people who actually get into severe depression possibly because of poor preparation for the childbirth or possibly because of some genetic condition that the person, her genetic make up. So one should be mindful, be watchful of that. The family members around you should watch out for that and give you support. I’m sure most mothers are very keen on having their child healthy will also need to actually look after
themselves because if you do not look after yourself, then you can’t look after the child. So, having a child is not just about the child, but the mother herself as well. And don’t get into depression if you can. If you understand it, you can always overcome it.
