Family Medicine Doctor: Jane Satter, MD

My name is Jane Satter. And I’m a physician at Duke Primary Care. I always knew I wanted to
be a family physician. When I finished college, I spent a year
in a rural health center in California. And I was working with
family doctors there. And that was a lot of fun,
I enjoy the multi generations. I enjoy seeing babies, seeing older
people, seeing people in the middle. And family medicine is a really nice
way to become a part of a community. I enjoy most everything about my day. I like the variety,
I like seeing patients for the first time. I like seeing them back. I like getting to know
their family members. I like doing my best to try to help
them lead a healthy lifestyle. I like the stories that they tell me. I do triathlons. So, I’m on a master swim team and
I swim four days a week. And I run and I cycle on the weekends. I, my husband and I, live on some land. And we have chickens and a big garden. So we grow a lot of our food. My kids are now all in college. But I have spent a lot of my
life watching them play sports. Two of them play college basketball now. So we still have that
opportunity to watch them play.
