Hello Everyone! Welcome to our YouTube channel “ Everyday Life”. Today we will present you Halim Seeds in our series of “Lesser Known Spices of India”. Halim Seeds are also known as aleev, asaliya and garden cress. And its botanical name is Lepidium sativum. Halim Seeds are widely cultivated throughout India. It is originally native of West Asia. These tiny seeds in front of you, are Halim seeds. These seeds are very small. Just like mustard seeds. You might find it like flax seed, but it more close to mustard seeds as both (Mustard and Halim) are from same family. It has pungent flavour too just like mustard seeds. These brown coloured seeds are full of nutrients. It has very good amount of protein, calcium, vitamins and fiber. I don’t know why it is such an underrated seeds. Please do include this seeds in your life and you will get benefits of this seeds. It is ideal for bone strengthening , healing of bone fracture and relief from gout. You surely will ask where can we get these seeds. These are available at shops that sell dried fruits, nut etc. It is also available on online store. Cost of halim seeds is roughly round rs 300-400/- for 300-400 gms. You don’t need to consume much in one time. You just need to add 50 -60 gm or 1/3 cup in your 1 kilogram of panjari or fried fruit laddu. and if you are making 100 gm of multi-grain dalia or diabetic dalia, just add 1 tablespoon of halim seeds.
