Location of Breast Cancer

I want to take a look at our bio
digital human animation you can walk on over and walk us through a little bit
about where the cancer generally occurs so your breast cancer actually may occur
in any of these landmarks so the breast tissue is actually defined from the sternum all the way to the inframammary fold to
the clavicle and down to the Latissimus dorsi muscle which is right here so this is all consider breast tissue and the first place where the pressed cancer may
travel to is here in the area of the axilla or the armpit so that’s why when
we’re checking and when the patients are checking themselves doing a breast
examination they should cover that whole area for the clavicle sternum inframammary or fold all the way to the axilla and breast cancer interestingly occurs most
commonly in what we refer to the upper outer aspect of the breast which is
right here because that’s where most of the breast tissue lies the woman has to
be aware what’s normal for her so that’s why I think is critical for the woman to
perform as of examination and be familiar with both normal for her you
know a lot of women will come to clinic and say you know my breast is very lumpy
and they don’t know what is normal for them so certainly being aware was normal
for them it’s critical in order to have early detection how big can a mass get
Andrew there’s no limit the other day I removed them as I was 11 centimeters you know it’s really dependent on the patient and also different breast sizes
the smaller the breast certainly the less breast tissue you have to develop a
mass however there’s no limit to the size
