SARA LOKSTAD: Hi, I’m Dr.
Sara Lokstad, Family Medicine, and I’m here with you
at Essentia Health. I think the biggest thing that
for me was an impact was– there were seven
kids in my family, and of course, being up in
Newfolden rural community, we had a family medicine
physician, actually, that delivered all
seven of us kids. And throughout my
life, that’s who we saw up until the last
few years of high school. So that always made
a big impact on me. I always knew we were
going to see our doctor, and I always knew who it was
going to be and it was great. And that always made a
lasting impression on me. So for as long as I
can remember, that’s– you know, I’ve always
wanted to be a doctor. It was obviously a very,
very different experience over there. But, you know, absolutely. I think the biggest thing
for me that I learned– I mean, medicines. Kind of medicine, where we
go, a little bit different, unique things there, of course. But you know we have so
much to be thankful for here and I guess that’s the
biggest thing for me. It’s more of just
appreciate what you have and how lucky we are here. Well, I first saw about this
position while I was in Iraq. And it was just
what I was looking for because it was in
Minnesota, close to home, and the area is beautiful. I hadn’t seen it
much at that point, even though I’d lived in
Minnesota my whole life. But everything about
it sounded wonderful. And when we got
here, we just knew this was where we wanted to be. Close to family, biggest
thing and then it’s just beautiful here. So it’s great. You know, I enjoy
all of the ages. I think all of them have their
own unique characteristics that make them fun. I do love the kids. I think I’ve told
Miranda that before, too. I just love the
kids, they’re so fun. And just how they are just
makes the day a little lighter, I think, and they’re just
so innocent and sweet and I really do enjoy
that part a lot. But I really enjoy all ages
and women’s health care, and I enjoy
preventative care, which is huge and important, as well. But, really, I think, for
me, the kids are a lot of fun but they’re all great, so. Hi, I’m Dr. Sara
Lokstad, Family Medicine, and I’m here with you
at Essentia Health. [MUSIC PLAYING]
