Mmy name is Myfanwy Callahan. I’m a primary a care physician and I’ve been in practice since 2015. One of the things I love about primary care is the relationship that you have over the long term. You get to see people going through medical problems and then gradually getting better. But I also take care of patients who are dealing with really serious health problems and helping them work through those difficulties. Having that kind of relationship is so important and that’s part of why I chose primary care. One of the things that I feel is really important is meeting a patient where they are. So, other things that are going on in a patient’s life whether they find it hard to exercise because they’re traveling so much or they need to stay healthy to care for their child or an ailing parent. I like to find a plan that’s going to work for them for that patient. Tthere’s no sense in me telling the same plan to every single person. I like to find out where people are coming from and then really tailor it to them. I want to be a physician that can treat the whole patient. So I’ve actually done some specialized training in women’s health and for problems whether it’s pain or contraception or menopausal symptoms, I am happy to discuss that with patients and help treat them and then I always turn to my OB/GYN colleagues if I need any additional assistance. But a lot of times I can keep it within our care.
