Meet Jennifer Neilan, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner

[MUSIC PLAYING] I’m Jenn Neilan, a women’s
health nurse practitioner. And I practice at Bryan
Women’s Care Physicians. I started off in
my undergrad at UNL and chose nursing
with the thought that I would always become
a nurse practitioner. After I graduated, I worked
on labor and delivery for 10 years, which,
of course, then I have always been in that
women’s health field and have loved
working with women and reproduction and the
whole lifespan of women. And so it just made sense
to go into women’s health. As a nurse practitioner,
we have to be an RN, have to have our bachelor’s
degree in nursing. And we go back to school
and get our master’s degree in a field of nursing. As a nurse practitioner, I do
see gynecological patients. But I see obstetric
patients as well. I can diagnose, treat,
manage health problems. I can prescribe medications. I treat them as I would
like to be treated. I practice infertility
here in our office. So that is something that is
near and dear to my heart. I love helping those patients
that struggle with infertility to try to achieve
pregnancy and give them that joy of being able to
experience pregnancy and have a child. I work a lot with
adolescents helping younger teens, early
20s, with reproduction and managing their
health problems. I enjoy learning about my
patients and their families, and what they do. And I try to make it
a personal experience. That is really what I enjoy is
interaction with my patients and getting to know them
on a personal level, not just see them as a
patient and a diagnosis. Bryan has a name
in the community that’s a trusted place. And it’s a great
place to get care. And being part of that
Bryan Physician Network, people know that they are
going to get the care that they expect and that they deserve. It’s something
that I truly enjoy. It’s a passion of mine
to help these patients. [MUSIC PLAYING]
