National women’s health and fitness day

today is National Women’s Health and Fitness day earlier we talked about yoga for getting you know some pain relief well we’re here with licensed health coach Rachel Todd she’s here to show us some other things that we can do to stay healthy so good morning good morning crystal thanks for having me again thanks for coming by so tell us a little bit you said a lot of its mind a lot of its what we’re eating so where do we go well what I really wanted to touch on was that if today’s national women’s health and fitness day in order to have that sort of routine a healthy routine a routine that gets you going to a class that you enjoy it really starts with your mindset it really starts with the ability to open up that that time in that space to tell yourself that it’s okay to focus on self-care okay and a lot of time though that’s a lot of problems that I have that personal way so you know you say it’s a 80 mindset 20 what you eat mm-hmm okay yeah um nutrition is very important and we talk about I talk about that a lot on the show with you guys but essentially if you don’t have the right mindset you’re not going to make those changes and a lot of times with my clients if I don’t start with mindset if I don’t get them to realize that they’re worthy of that time if they don’t get them to see that they can make the changes if they choose to make the changes that they can prep meals ahead of time if that’s what they choose to do and if they can set a time to go to a yoga class or go to their favorite fitness class with a friend those things are very stress relieving and they enrich your life but it definitely has to be a priority so I want to talk about meditation too so tell me a little bit about that and how that’s gonna help yeah so so much is happening in the world of mindfulness actually I picked up Time magazine last night and it’s a whole issue on mindfulness and the science of mindfulness and it’s actually being used in the military now PT for PTSD it’s being used on the frontlines of combat and it’s also being used to treat depression so the science is now backing it up so they’re able to scan people’s brains when they’re practicing meditation and showing a reduction in stress shadow and a stress helps with your health obviously absolutely let’s get to some of the food that you say so everything you see here is green because what I’m talking about today is alkalinity so everybody remembers the pH scale from biology class and a lot of the foods that are accessible very quickly are acidic so you’re fast foods your coffee or alcohol your good fried food those are all things that really encourage an acidic environment in the body and on the other side of the scale is alkalinity and so it’s always like we’re just trying to always bring ourselves a little bit more to the alkaline side of life so I just brought a bunch of green things of course we’ve just got some organic spinach here we’ve got broccoli I’ve got sugar snap peas love sure do you like these I eat them raw yes they’re delicious good and I’ve been packed here so you can just bring it to work with you uh-huh and then this is a greens powder that I love anybody who is in a hurry you can certainly just mix it up into a shaker cup like this and do it like a shot I was about to say that that can’t taste good really not terrible it’s not terrible and as you become more alkaline in your environment in your body things like this start to taste less bitter thank you so much if you want to learn some more information you can go to her website that’s rachel todd dot-com her email address info at rachel todd comm we’ll post this whole segment on our website
