Nurse Practitioner – Obstetrics & Gynecology: Tanya Moore, FNP, RN, WHNP

Hi, my name is Tanya Moore. I’m a nurse practitioner with
Duke Women’s Health Associates. I knew from a young age that
I wanted to be a nurse, and I started my career in general medicine,
and eventually transitioned to labor and
delivery nursing, which was my passion. And I loved being with women as
they were having their babies, and being with their families at that
really amazing part of their lives. One of the things that I
like about this role that I have as a nurse practitioner
is that I get to see women across this spectrum of life. One of the joys that I have is seeing
women back every year for their well woman exam, being with them as they get
pregnant, and following them through their pregnancy and then seeing them postpartum
and seeing them through a next pregnancy. So that’s one of the things that
I enjoy about what I do now, is that I get to establish a relationship. I like talking with women
about their concerns. I like being a safe place for
them to be able to come and talk about what’s concerning them,
healthwise. I think coming to the provider,
it puts you in a vulnerable place, especially when you come
to the gynecologist. And so I like being the someone, trying to make the environment more of a safe place for women to seek the medical care that they want and need.
