We vaccinate around 6-7 pregnant women and 10-15 children on every immunization day. As an ANM, we feel good that when we call mothers, kids, pregnant women, they take a lot of interest in what we say. When we hold meetings, or give them some information, they listen carefully to us. I have been working as an ANM for the past 20 years. Earlier, only one-time ANC registration would be done, we were not able to pay a lot of attention, there were not so many tests, We would only administer two vaccines and measure their height and weight. Neither would they understand much about why these measurements and tests and vaccines were important, nor us. But now we pay much more regular attention, for instance, if someone’s haemoglobin levels are low, we refer them ahead for care.
