Women’s Health Top 5 Summer Workout Must-Haves

Hi. I’m Rachel Nicks. I’m one of the top five finalists for Women’s Health’s Next Fitness Star competition. So I’m here today to talk about some of Women’s Health’s top summer fitness favorites that will help you have your healthiest, happiest, and fittest summer ever. So, first up, let’s talk about and think about our body in the heat. We all know staying hydrated is super important, but so is nutrition. It’s important to replenish and refuel after really strenuous workouts and a great way to do that is with EAS’s AdvantEDGE Carb Control shake. Great thing about this shake is that it’s ready to go, only one hundred calories and it’s plant based protein. It’s packed with seventeen grams of quality protein, less than one gram of sugar and it’s loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. I love it as a quick snack when I’m on the run and what’s so great about it is that four packs are only $5.99 at Target. So now that we’ve talked about keeping our insides healthy, it’s really important to protect the outside. Most of us don’t think about putting on sunscreen before we go workout, but it’s probably one of the best things you can do for your health. One of our favorite options is Coppertone Sport AccuSpray Sunscreen and Sunscreen Lotion. Is it really strong, even when you sweat, and it has UVA and UVB protection that protects you from the sun’s most powerful rays. I love it because when I sweat, it doesn’t run into my eyes and sting because it’s water resistant. So it’s the perfect thing to apply before you workout. It’s available nationwide at food, drug, mass and internet retailers and it retails for $9.99. So, probably one of the best ways to avoid the heat is to find an indoor workout that you love. My specialties are barre, TRX and interval training at BFX Studio in New York City. Now even when you are inside, these can get hot and sweaty and slippery, so it’s essential to have the proper footwear. My go-to, when I have barefoot workouts, like yoga or barre, are Nike Studio Wraps. They’re awesome because they provide great traction, they prevent me from slipping and the cute ribbons add support for my arches and my ankles. And I love them because I get to color coordinate and they are super cute. Now, music. I love a good song and a good workout with great music so you have to have the proper tech when you’re working out outdoors. My go-to is Outdoor Tech ORCAS Wireless Ear-Buds. Now, a lot of ear buds tend to slip out of my ears. I don’t know if this usually happens for you, but usually with movement and sweat I’m always plugging ear plugs back into my ear, but with this you don’t have to do that. It’s ultra-light. It’s sweat-proof. And it has Bluetooth technology so it’ll comfortably sit in your ears and you can focus on your moves. It’s only $99.95 at outdoortechnology.com. And lastly, we’ve got to stay hydrated when we are working out in this hot summer heat. So, having the dependable water bottle is key. With love Nathan’s Fire & Ice. It’s really cool because it stabilizes liquid temperatures and even on the hottest day, you have chilled water. So, I think that’s super important. It’s only $12 at Dicks Sporting Goods.
